Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Baylor volleyball was one of 164 NCAA Division I recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, announced by the organization on Monday.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Baylor joins Kansas State, Oklahoma and West Virginia as the only four Big 12 schools that earned the Team Academic Award in 2017-18.
For the Bears, the 2017-18 award makes it five consecutive years earning the honor, with the seven total selections in the program's history all coming in the last eight years.
Represented by divisions spanning from the highest level of the NCAA Division I down to the high school ranks, the organization set an all-time high with 973 teams being honored across all divisions in the 24th year of the award.
The Bears kick off the 2018 season on Aug. 24 against LSU, hosting the Hampton Inn & Suites Waco North Baylor Invitational at the Ferrell Center. Season tickets are now available at https://baylorbea.rs/VBTickets.
