Bears get late goal to skate past Owls in Boca Raton

THE RUNDOWN
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Baylor soccer (3-1-0) outlasted Florida Atlantic (1-3-0) in a physical match, taking the 1-0 victory on Sunday evening at FAU Soccer Stadium.

Leading in shots throughout the match and controlling the pace through most of the contest, the Bears finished with an 11-6 advantage in shots and 6-3 in shots on goal.

The teams stayed in a deadlock until the Bears finally managed to break through in the 81st minute.

Raegan Padgett started the push across midfield passing up to Taylor Moon. Moon continued the run up the right sideline serving in to Kennedy Brown, with Brown breaking through with a shot that found the back of the net, giving BU the 1-0 advantage.

The Bears weathered a close call shot and two corners for the Owls, preserving the combined shutout for goalkeepers Hannah Parrish, who made the start, and Jennifer Wandt, who closed the match over the second half in goal.

* Raegan Padgett's assist on the goal drew her even with Moon with her third assist on the season.
