WACO, Texas – It was announced today that Baylor baseball is ranked preseason No. 15 according to D1Baseball.com.
Late last week the Bears also graced Perfect Game's top 25, coming in at No. 12, the highest preseason ranking since the Bears were No. 8 to start the 2009 campaign.
In both polls the Bears are the second Big 12 team ranked, behind just Texas Tech in both polls.
The Bears are led by junior catcher
Shea Langeliers, who was the 2018 recipient of the Rawlings Gold Glove for the catcher position, along with junior left-handed pitcher
Cody Bradford who became the first Bear to win Big 12 Pitcher of the Year honors.
The Bears return their entire lineup from a 2018 campaign that saw them win the program's first Big 12 Tournament title, highlighted by Langeliers, third baseman
Davis Wendzel, shortstop
Nick Loftin and second baseman
Josh Bissonette among others.
On the mound, the Bears return their entire pitching rotation, led by Bradford, but also included right-handed pitcher
Hayden Kettler and lefty
Tyler Thomas.
The Bears open up the 2019 campaign on Friday, Feb. 15 when they host Holy Cross in a four-game set.
