Bears look to win their first road contests of the season
WACO, Texas – No. 8 Baylor equestrian (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) will head west to battle No. 2 Georgia (2-1, 1-1 SEC) and host No. 7 Fresno State (2-2, 1-1 Big 12) Friday at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif.
The Bears will close out their fall schedule this weekend and look to win their first road and neutral site matchups of the season. BU is a perfect 3-0 at home but 0-2 in road contests in 2019.
"We have a big weekend ahead of us to finish out our fall season, and we're going up against two very tough opponents," head coach Casie Maxwell said. "We have good confidence coming off of a Big 12 win against TCU last Friday, and I would really like to carry that momentum into a road win."
Baylor and Georgia will be a neutral site meet while the Bears will take on Fresno State in a Big 12 battle for the first time in league history.
BU leads the all-time series against Fresno State, 11-3, but trails against Georgia, 10-3. BU split both matchups with both teams a season ago, going a combined 2-2 against this weekend's competition.
Last season, BU upended Fresno State and Georgia at home. Then, the Bears dropped a 10-8 decision at Fresno, and BU ended its team season with a 10-6 loss to Georgia in the NCEA quarterfinals last April.
BU is coming off a dominant 14-6 win against then-No. 4 TCU last Friday in Waco.
There will be live scoring for Friday's contest provided by Fresno State, and the link is on the Baylor equestrian schedule page at BaylorBears.com.
