Bears finish strong fall season in Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Baylor men's tennis closed out the fall season on day three of the ITA National Fall Championships Friday at The Tennis Club in Newport Beach, Calif.
In the singles round of 16, No. 49 Adrian Boitan dropped a 7-6(6), 6-3 loss to top-seeded and No. 4 Yuya Ito of Texas. No. 44 Sven Lah retired in the third set to fall 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (ret.) to No. 45 Valentin Vacherot of Texas A&M.
Lah led all Bears with an 11-4 singles record while Boitan went 3-3 in the fall.
In doubles play, Lah and senior Constantin Frantzen withdrew from the tournament while junior Matias Soto and senior Ryan Dickerson closed out the fall season with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to North Carolina's Simon Soendergaard and Mac Kiger in the quarterfinals.
Dickerson and Soto finish the fall season with a 6-2 record.

The Bears have concluded fall play and will open the dual-match season on Jan. 18 against Boise State and UT Arlington at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. The matches are slated for a 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. start.
