Colin Kober ties for third place individually, his second top-5 of the spring

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Baylor men's golf shot 4-over-par 856 across three rounds to finish in eighth place at the 2019 ASU Thunderbird Collegiate. The Bears carded 6-over 290 in Sunday's final round at Papago Golf Course, dropping them four spots in the leaderboard after entering the round in fourth place.
No. 25 Baylor (+4) earned head-to-head wins over No. 43 Marquette (+9), Saint Mary's (+13), No. 32 UNLV (+14), No. 31 BYU (+17), Colorado (+22) and Utah (+25). The Bears placed behind No. 2 Arizona State (-20), No. 7 Texas (-8), No. 37 UCLA (-7), a second squad from No. 2 Arizona State (-2), No. 1 Oklahoma State (-2), No. 23 North Carolina (E) and No. 36 Iowa State (+3).
Colin Kober shot 2-under 69 in the final round to finish tied for third place at 6-under 207. It was Kober's second top-5 finish in his last three tournaments and marks a fourth consecutive tournament that a Baylor player has recorded a top-5 individual finish.
Garrett May also shot 2-under 69 in the final round to climb into a tie for 11th place at 2-under 211 for the tournament. Braden Bailey and Ryan Grider carded matching final rounds of 5-over 76, with Grider finishing tied for 51st place at 8-over 221 and Bailey tied for 63rd place at 11-over 224. Cooper Dossey placed 50th at 7-over 220 after a final round of 6-over 77.
Baylor also entered a pair of individuals in the tournament. Brandon Hoff shot 11-over 82 in the final round at tied for 72nd place at 16-over 229, while Mark Reppe shot 8-over 79 on Sunday to finish tied for 76th place at 20-over 233.

4 – Colin Kober made four birdies on a five-hole stretch from the 12th to 16th holes, helping him climb into the top-5. Kober was 2-under for the tournament with seven holes remaining, which would've tied for 10th place, but he played his final seven holes at a combined 4-under to jump into a tie for third place. The only player to finish ahead of Kober were No. 6-ranked Chun An Yu (-12) of Arizona State and No. 15-ranked Cole Hammer (-8) of Texas.

- BU also led the tournament with 182 pars, three more than any other team.
- May and Dossey tied for second in the 80-player field in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00, while Kober tied for seventh at 1-over 3.08.
- Kober ranked third in the field in par-4 scoring at 5-under 3.85.
- May tied for 15th in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.56.
- Dossey tied for second in the field with 39 pars across 54 holes, while May tied for fourth with 38 pars and Bailey and Kober tied for 12th with 37 pars apiece.
- Kober led the team and tied for 12th in the field with 12 birdies, six of which came in Sunday's final round.
