Bears are two shots back of second place entering Tuesday’s final round

DALLAS, Texas – Baylor women's golf is tied for third place after shooting 8-over-par 584 across two rounds on Monday at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational. The Bears carded matching rounds of 4-over 292 at Trinity Forest Golf Club, placing them 11 shots back of the lead entering Tuesday's final round.
Baylor (+8) trails only Oklahoma State (-3) and North Texas (+6). The Bears are tied with Colorado (+8) and lead Texas Tech (+12), Memphis (+20), Kansas State (+21), Tulsa (+30), SMU (+34), Tulane (+36) and Central Arkansas (+43).
Baylor's best rounds of the day came from Gurleen Kaur, who posted a first round of 1-under 71 and a second round of even-par 72 to sit in seventh place individually at 1-under 143. She's five shots back of the lead in the 65-player field.
Grad transfer Elodie Chapelet shot even-par 72 and 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for 10th place at 2-over 146, while Fiona Liddell is tied for 15th place at 3-over 147 after rounds of 2-over 74 and 1-over 73. Diane Baillieux carded the Bears' final counting scores at 3-over 75 and 1-over 73 to tie for 18th place at 4-over 148.
Jordan Shackelford bounced back from a 10-over 82 first round to shoot 3-over 75 on her second run through the course, which moved her up into a tie for 52nd place at 13-over 147. Freshman Anika Veintemilla, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 33rd place at 8-over 152 after rounds of 3-over 75 and 5-over 77.
