Bears are two shots back of second place entering Tuesday’s final round

THE RUNDOWN
DALLAS, Texas – Baylor women's golf is tied for third place after shooting 8-over-par 584 across two rounds on Monday at the SMU Trinity Forest Invitational. The Bears carded matching rounds of 4-over 292 at Trinity Forest Golf Club, placing them 11 shots back of the lead entering Tuesday's final round.

Baylor (+8) trails only Oklahoma State (-3) and North Texas (+6). The Bears are tied with Colorado (+8) and lead Texas Tech (+12), Memphis (+20), Kansas State (+21), Tulsa (+30), SMU (+34), Tulane (+36) and Central Arkansas (+43).

Baylor's best rounds of the day came from Gurleen Kaur, who posted a first round of 1-under 71 and a second round of even-par 72 to sit in seventh place individually at 1-under 143. She's five shots back of the lead in the 65-player field.

Grad transfer Elodie Chapelet shot even-par 72 and 2-over 74 to sit in a tie for 10^th place at 2-over 146, while Fiona Liddell is tied for 15^th place at 3-over 147 after rounds of 2-over 74 and 1-over 73. Diane Baillieux carded the Bears' final counting scores at 3-over 75 and 1-over 73 to tie for 18^th place at 4-over 148.

Jordan Shackelford bounced back from a 10-over 82 first round to shoot 3-over 75 on her second run through the course, which moved her up into a tie for 52^nd place at 13-over 147. Freshman Anika Veintemilla, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 33^rd place at 8-over 152 after rounds of 3-over 75 and 5-over 77.

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor ranks third in the 11-team field in par-5 scoring at 5-under 4.88, tied for third in par-3 scoring at 9-over 3.23 and tied for fifth in par-4 scoring at 17-over 4.17.
Baylor's 31 birdies were fourth-most on Monday, and BU tied for seventh with 101 pars.
Gurleen Kaur is tied for third in the 65-player field in par-4 scoring at 2-under 3.90.
Elodie Chapelet is tied for fifth in par-4 scoring at 1-under 3.95.
Fiona Liddell is tied for fifth in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00 and tied for sixth in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.63.
Diane Baillieux is tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 4-under 4.50.
Chapelet is tied for the tournament lead with 26 pars across 36 holes.
Anika Veintemilla is tied for eighth in the field with 23 pars.
Liddell and Kaur are tied for sixth with eight birdies apiece.

STAT OF THE DAY
5-under – players in the Baylor lineup played the fourth hole at 5-under on Monday. Fiona Liddell and Jordan Shackelford both made birdie on each of their two attempts at the hole, while Gurleen Kaur made birdie in the first round and Diane Baillieux made birdie in the second round.

Tuesday's final round is an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start, and Baylor players will be paired with golfers from Texas Tech and Memphis.
