FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor men's tennis wrapped up its weekend at the TCU Invitational with another 3-3 day in Fort Worth on Sunday. The Bears collected three singles wins after dropping both doubles matches in the morning, marking an even .500 record for the tournament.
For their first action of the 2020-21 year, BU went 9-9 total on the weekend, led by Finn Bass who was 4-2 with a perfect 3-0 record in singles play. The redshirt sophomore picked up another straight-sets victory by defeating Texas' Leighton Allen 6-2, 7-5 on the final day of the tournament.
Sebastian Nothhaft also found the win column in singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over UT's Eshan Talluri, and Nick Stachowiak took care of UT's Chih Chi Huang 6-4, 7-5. Charlie Broom was the only Bear to drop his singles match on Sunday, falling to UT's Micah Braswell 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Broom/Stachowiak couldn't get past Texas A&M's duo of Schachter/Storch 8-5, and Bass/Nothhaft were defeated by Smith/Rollins, another Aggie pairing, 8-5.
Bass leads the Bears with four total wins so far this fall, including BU's only ranked singles victory. Stachowiak added three victories on the weekend, and Broom and Nothhaft each tallied two. BU was 7-5 total in singles action and 2-4 in doubles play.
