
Celum Named NCATA All-Academic, 19 Bears Selected to NCATA Honor Roll

WACO, Texas – Senior base Morgan Celum led the way for Baylor as she was named to the NCATA All-Academic team, headlining a group of 19 Bears who were NCATA Academic Honor Roll selections, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Celum is one of eight student-athletes from around the NCATA named to the prestigious All-Academic team. Each member of the 2020 All-Academic team has a GPA of 3.50 or higher. Set to graduate in three years, the Georgetown, Texas, native boasts a 3.77 GPA as a Health Science Studies: Pre-Physical Therapy major
Celum participated in all five meets in the 2020 COVID-19 shortened season, a heavy hitter for the Bears in all basing aspects. She helped lead the team to multiple acro, pyramid and toss victories on the year. She participated in three-of-four compulsory events, acro event, pyramid event, toss event, and team event in all meets in 2020. A two-time team national champion, she also helped provide a standing tumbling pass in the team event with a starting value of 9.6.
Previous academic honors for Celum include being named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large First Team and the 2019 NCATA Academic Honor Roll.
The Bears placed 19 on the NCATA Academic Honor Roll, including Celum earning the honors for the second-straight season. All eligible acrobatics & tumbling student-athletes with GPAs of 3.30 or higher qualify for the NCATA's Academic Honor Roll. Four Bears on the honor roll boast perfect 4.00 GPAs, led by sophomore Maddie McNamee, along with freshmen Abby Luong, Kamryn Kitchens and Keri Collins. Sophomores Jayla Simmons and Tawn Gurnsey were next with GPAs of 3.96 and 3.93, respectively. Senior Alexsis Amrhein, recipient of the Big 12's highest academic honor, the 2020 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, is next with a 3.92 GPA.
