Bears set to host No. 2 Auburn, No. 6 Fresno State to close fall slate
WACO, Texas – No. 3 Baylor equestrian (3-1, 1-1) is set to host a pair of top-10 showdowns this weekend at the Willis Family Equestrian Center to cap its fall slate of action.
The Bears welcome No. 2 Auburn (4-1, 2-0) for an 11 a.m. tilt on Friday, then round out the weekend with an 11 a.m. matchup against No. 6 Fresno State (4-3, 1-1) on Saturday.
BU is coming off back-to-back wins against No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 9 TCU, which included its largest point total in a single meet since November 2019.
Seventeen different Bears have recorded points this season so far, including Emma Fletcher (Flat), Caroline Fuller (Fences), Jenna Meimerstorf (Reining) and Andie Pratt (Reining), who are each undefeated in their respective events.
Additionally, nine Bears carry a 3-1 record into this weekend's action in their respective events: Shelby Clausen (Reining), Fletcher (Fences), Fuller (Flat), Savannah Hemby (Flat), Daisy Kaufman (Reining), Gabrielle Marty (Horsemanship), Madison Mitchell (Fences), Dominika Silvestri (Flat) and Nadalee Vasquez (Horsemanship).
Baylor has claimed 12 of 16 individual events this year, including a 4-0 sweep in Horsemanship on Sept. 24 at No. 10 UT Martin and a 5-0 sweep in Reining on Nov. 5 vs. TCU. It's the first time the Bears have recorded sweeps in each of the two Western events since the 2019-20 season.
Auburn holds a 12-3 advantage in the all-time series with Baylor, though the Bears took the most recent meeting, 8-7, in last year's NCEA quarterfinals. BU leads 13-5 in the all-time series with Fresno State, though the two sides have split all four meetings since the Bulldogs joined the Big 12 ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Live scoring for both meets will be available at BaylorBears.com.
