Bears in middle of 18-team field late in second round

LAREDO, Texas – Baylor men's golf is tied for eighth place with play suspended late in the second round at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club. The Bears sit at 19-over-par through 16 holes in the second round.
Baylor (+19) trails Texas A&M (+4), Texas (+6), Houston (+7), Sam Houston State (+8), Illinois State (+12), UTSA (+15) and Kent State (+18). BU is tied with Louisiana-Lafayette (+19) and in front of Louisiana-Monroe (+20), Abilene Christian (+22), Michigan (+25), New Mexico State (+27), Lamar (+37), Rice (+39), Eastern Michigan (+44), Houston Baptist (+48) and Bowling Green (+49).
Baylor's best score through 34 holes is Ryan Grider in a tie for 15th place at 2-over par, including 1-over thru 16 in the second round. He's followed by Brandon Hoff alone in 21st place at 3-over, including a first round of 2-under 70. Colin Kober is tied for 41st place at 7-over, while Johnny Keefer is tied for 49th place at 8-over and Tyler Isenhart is tied for 58th place at 9-over.
Teams will return to the course Tuesday morning to complete their final rounds and then will tee off with a shotgun start for the final round.

6 – Brandon Hoff made six birdies in the first round on his way to a 2-under 70. He accounted for six of the Bears' 14 birdies in the round by making birdies on Nos. 1, 9, 10, 13, 14 and 16.
