The Bears lost for the first time since 2017
WACO, Texas – The No. 1-ranked Bears traveled to Eugene, Oregon, where they lost their first meet since 2017 to No. 2 Oregon on Saturday night at the Matthew Knight Arena. The Bears (1-1) earned a total score of 280.660 and the Ducks (2-0) earned a total score of 281.635.
Baylor scored a 38.05 in the compulsory, including a 9.15 in acro, 9.95 in pyramid, 9.85 in toss, and 9.10 in tumbling. Oregon outscored the Bears in the compulsory, earning a 38.55 total score.
After the acro event, Baylor continued to trail behind by just under one point. Baylor earned a total score of 67.50, consisting of a 9.95 in the fifth element, 9.55 in the sixth element, and 9.95 in the seventh element.
Baylor tied Oregon in the pyramid event, both teams earning a total event score of 29.70. Leading into the half, Baylor trailed Oregon 97.20 - 98.10.
The Bears took the toss event, with event scores being 29.80 - 29.40. Baylor earned a 9.60 in salto, 9.65 in synchronized, and 9.80 in open. Total scores after toss left Baylor trailing Oregon 126.25 - 127.50.
Baylor also took the tumbling event, outscoring Oregon 56.250 to 55.975. The Bears earned a 9.950 out of a possible 10 in open tumbling.
The two rivals tied in the team event, both earning a 98.16. This put total scores at Baylor 280.660 and Oregon 281.635.
