
Upset-Minded No. 8 EQ Readies for Nationals

Baylor faces No. 1-seed Auburn beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. at Extraco Events Center
WACO, Texas – No. 8-seeded Baylor equestrian (2-7) will begin its run at the 2021 NCEA National Championship on Thursday at 10 a.m. CT against No. 1-seed Auburn (8-0) at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
In partnership with the City of Waco and McLennan County, BU will host the event for the 14th-straight season, following last year's postseason hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nationals runs Thursday through Saturday, April 15-17.
The tournament format takes place over three days a single-elimination dual-discipline bracket featuring the nation's top eight teams, as well as a single-discipline championship between Sweet Briar and Lynchburg.
There will be no event-specific champions this season, as the tournament format was reduced in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the Bears, an upset over the defending national champion Tigers would earn them a spot in Friday's semifinals, which begin at 10 a.m. CT. Auburn leads the all-time series against Baylor, 12-2.
Back-to-back victories would land the Bears in Saturday's championship, which will kick off at 9 a.m. CT.
Attendance will be restricted to a player pass list only, in accordance with USEF and CDC guidelines.
Live scoring will be available via the NCEA's website. A live video stream will be provided through Horse & Country TV.
