Bears win 20 matches for first time since 2017 season
THE RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas – For the first time since 2017, the Baylor women's tennis team collected a 20-win season with a 5-2 win at TCU Wednesday at the Friedman Tennis Center.
Baylor improved to 20-3 overall and 7-1 in Big 12 competition while the Horned Frogs fell to 9-11 overall and 3-5 in league play.
The Bears took the doubles point before TCU evened up the score on the No. 6 court, 1-1. Baylor's Audrey Boch-Collins, Paula Barañano and Angelina Shakhraichuk picked up wins consecutively on the No. 5, No. 4 and No. 3 courts, respectively to seal the win.
Shakhraichuk, Alicia Herrero Linana and Jessica Hinojosa all went to three sets with the score at 3-1 in favor of Baylor before the senior, Shakhraichuk, ensured victory. Hinojosa picked up Baylor's fifth point after being match-point down, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
Baylor improved to 21-17 all-time vs. the Horned Frogs.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Audrey Boch-Collins won her fourth-straight match, the team's longest active streak, on the No. 5 court.
• 2021 will mark the 14th time in program history and 12th under head coach Joey Scrivano that Baylor has reached the 20-win milestone for a season.
