BU has six selections in the last eight years to the U.S. Collegiate National Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Baylor volleyball rising fifth-year senior Yossiana Pressley was named a member of the 2021 USA Volleyball Women's Collegiate National Team, as announced late Thursday evening by the organization.
The 29-member team is comprised of current collegiate players who will train and compete in Anaheim, Calif., from June 13-18. With her second-career selection, Pressley becomes the sixth Bear in the last eight years to be named to the U.S. Collegiate National Team.
"Yossi is a very special talent with a healthy hunger and drive. She loves to train and is always taking her game to another level," said head coach Ryan McGuyre. "She is a strong and compassionate teammate who has not stopped learning how to grow in skill and communication. I am very confident Yossi will continue to grow and know she will be a great representative on the National Team someday. This is a great honor, and we are all very proud of her."
A four-time All-American, 2019 AVCA Player of the Year and the Division I active career leader in kills, kills per set and total attacks, Pressley will return for her fifth season in green and gold in fall 2021. The senior OH led the country in kills in the 2020-21 combined season with 488 after hitting .249 and averaging 4.69 kills per set.
This season, Pressley surpassed Katie Staiger to become Baylor's all-time leader in career kills in the rally-scoring era. Pressley was a three-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award winner and tallied her first-career Defensive Player of the Week accolade in breaking the conference record with 19 career weekly honors. She was also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
The U.S. Collegiate National Team was selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff and National Team Development Program. Team members will work with top volleyball coaches at USAV's Anaheim training center, receiving evaluation, feedback and individual development plans.
Pressley joins Brionne Butler, Logan Eggleston and Skylar Fields from Texas as representatives from the Big 12 Conference.
