Jennifer Wandt holds off Oregon in last minutes of overtime and records six saves
WACO, Texas – Baylor goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt has been named Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. This marks the second award so far this season for the fifth-year senior and the seventh of her career.
Wandt's honor comes just three weeks after receiving the honor for the first time this season for her performances against North Dakota State and Nebraska, where she picked up career shutout No. 33.
Since the first honor, Wandt has picked up one more shutout to bring her career total to 34, the fourth-best mark in Big 12 history.
This week, Wandt helped the Bears to a thrilling 2-2 double overtime draw against Oregon. She recorded a season-high six saves on the pitch against the Ducks. The most important save came in the last few minutes of the second overtime, where Wandt was able to stop Oregon from a golden goal.
Wandt's seven weekly awards are the most in program history. It marks the third goalkeeper weekly award since the accolade was introduced last season.
She joins Messiah Bright, TCU (Offensive), Gabrielle Robinson, West Virginia (Defensive) and Lexi Missimo, Texas (Freshman) as this week's award winners.
