Krista Pirtle making ‘incredible impact’ in new Bear Foundation role
Baylor Bear Insider
Krista Pirtle has made an "incredible impact" since joining the Bear Foundation staff in September as Senior Director of Revenue Generation.
"I'm thankful every day that Krista is part of our team and keeping us organized and moving in the right direction," said Gina Gonzales, Associate AD for Resource Development.
Recognized with the staff award for welcoming vulnerability and accountability, Pirtle originally returned to her alma mater in February 2019 and spent 3 ½ years in the Athletics Communications department before transitioning to the Bear Foundation office earlier this fall.
"Krista always has a positive attitude and the heart of a servant leader," Gonzales said. "She goes above and beyond. There is truly no job too small, and she takes a tremendous amount of pride in all of her responsibilities. She makes us stronger as a team every day."
Graduating from Baylor with a degree in journalism in 2013, Krista spent six years as a sportswriter for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Waco Tribune-Herald before joining Baylor as Associate Director of Athletics Communications, working with the softball and soccer programs.
She was the primary contact for women's basketball and women's tennis during the 2021-22 seasons and also served as supervisor for the communications student workers. Before joining the Bear Foundation staff in September, Krista was promoted to Director of Athletics Communications in August 2022.
"You brought me here to Baylor, and I've known you for such a long time," said Madelon Allen, Associate Director of Athletics Communications, who was once a camper at a camp where Krista was working as a counselor. "Over that whole time, I have definitely seen you as someone who can adapt to situations and take whatever comes at you in stride. I'm so happy that I get to work with you every day, even if it is in a different capacity now.
"For everything we've been through, you have been a light, and your smile shines in every room. Thank you so much for everything you do."
