With Nicole O'Banon and Luke Simons both in their first year as director of operations at Baylor, Sara Baxter with Anthony Travel has made a transition that can be very challenging go as smoothly as possible.
A part of Baylor volleyball's 2019 Final Four team, O'Banon returned as the team's director of operations this summer and says that Baxter "makes the traveling process for us and our team so smooth."
"Anytime we run into any issues traveling, you're always willing to help us," O'Banon said of Baxter, who was recognized for the staff award for making all decisions in accordance with governance regulations. "If we get stuck in a bind, if we can't travel or something gets canceled, you're always the first one that I call. And you're always picking up and helping us in any way that you can."
Simons joined the Baylor men's basketball program even later in the summer, at a time when "most programs around the country already have everything locked in."
"You were critical in my onboarding process here, just helping me understand not only how things are done at Baylor, but how we can get things done when we're on the road traveling," Simons said. "Your answers of yes or, I don't know but it's going to be a yes, have certainly given me a lot of confidence in accomplishing all the tasks that I need. And I know you're making me look good in my job."
Baxter has taken on a heavier load in the Anthony Travel office with Baylor Athletics, but has remained consistent in making sure that all the travel needs are covered for all the Baylor teams, coaches, student-athletes and staff.
"You are so intentional about asking questions of compliance, of the business office, and just partnering so well for Baylor Athletics in all of our travel needs," said Katie Smith, Baylor Athletics' Director of Business Operations.
In Galatians 6:9, it says, "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
"I feel like there are so many things in the world of travel logistics that could make someone weary, with recruiting, team travel, flight contracts," Smith said. "It's a job that when everything goes right, it can be very thankless. And when something goes wrong, it becomes a big deal and is highlighted. You just do such a great job of showing up every single day, trying to find new ways to be better at your role and better serve our student-athletes, coaches and staff."
