Courts 4-6 take care of business in midweek match
THE RUNDOWN
HOUSTON – No. 20 Baylor (7-4) made quick work of the Rice Owls (6-3) with a 4-0 sweep Wednesday afternoon at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
For the ninth time this season, the Bears secured the doubles point. Anita Sahdiieva and Ana Carmen Zamburek got their dub on court two with a final score of 6-2 over Federica Trevisan and Allison Zipolia. No. 1 Mel Krywoj and Alicia Herrero were right behind them with a 6-3 win on court one over Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi.
The bottom of the singles lineup then went to work for BU as each Bear recorded a victory in straight sets to secure the overall win for Baylor.
No. 122 Alina Shcherbinina led the way with her 6-1, 6-2 win over Anastasia Smirnova on court four. Anita Sahdiieva followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six over Saara Orav. Paula Barañano clinched the win for BU with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court five.
