Bears garner two MOP’s in Mainwaring and M. Vorhies
THE RUNDOWN
DAVIS, Calif. – No. 5 Baylor equestrian (6-6) finished its regular season with a 13-7 win at UC Davis Saturday afternoon at the UC Davis Equestrian Center in Davis, Calif.
After the two sides split the first two events of the day and took a 5-5 tie into the half, the Bears dominated after the break in 8-2 fashion to seal the victory.
Despite a career-high ride by Maddie Vorhies (93), BU dropped Fences 3-2. Madi Mitchell was the other pointwinner with an 84, as Vorhies picked up Most Outstanding Performer honors in the event.
Over in the Western arena, the Bears rode to a 3-2 event win in Horsemanship to knot the overall score. Marley Mainwaring (74), Bella Rosa (72.5) and Ellen Schrotenboer (73.5) collected the points for Baylor. Mainwaring was named the MOP for Horsemanship.
Following the halftime timeout, BU took Flat 4-1 with two scores above 90. Molly Canfield posted a whopping 93 in just her second-career meet, while Mitchell (90.5), Dominika Silvestri (88.5) and Vorhies (78) added to the tally.
The Baylor reiners sealed out the win with another 4-1 score. Madaline Callaway (68.5), Shelby Clausen (71), Jenna Meimerstorf (70) and Andie Pratt (68.5) put the points up for the Bears.
