Bears return home for the first time in a month
WACO, Texas – No. 21 Baylor women's tennis (13-6, 4-2) returns to Big 12 action this weekend as the Bears will play at home for the first time in more than a month. Baylor hosts No. 52 Kansas State (9-10, 1-5) at 3 p.m. on Friday before facing No. 25 Kansas (13-7, 3-3) at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
The Bears are currently in fourth in the Big 12 standings at 4-2 in league play behind Oklahoma (6-0), Oklahoma State (5-1) and Texas (5-1).
All this month, Baylor men's and women's tennis will be honoring Betty Bryant, an avid tennis player and avid supporter of Baylor tennis. On Friday afternoon in between the women's and men's matches, the Baylor programs will hold a celebration of life for her.
Friday will also be Hounds at the Hurd, with dogs allowed on either berm of the facility. T-shirts and hats will also be given away on Friday and Sunday, respectively, while supplies last.
Kansas State comes to Waco with wins in three of its last four matches, including a 4-0 victory over West Virginia on Sunday at home. No. 120 Maria Linares is 12-2 on the season with undefeated marks on court one (4-0) and court three (3-0).
Baylor and Kansas have faced off once already this season as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Bears prevailed, 4-1. BU took the doubles point and then proceeded to win on courts six (Paula Baranano), five (Anita Sahdiieva) and three (Alina Shcherbinina).
