Braverman and Frantzen win doubles B bracket
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On a busy Saturday in Baylor Athletics, the Baylor men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of the UTSA Invitational, winning one doubles bracket and sending two players into the singles final rounds.
The Bears opened the morning with a doubles win in the finals of the B bracket, as Christopher Frantzen and Justin Braverman dominated a 6-2 match, beating Jose Maria Rastrojo and Cesar Barranquero from ACU.
Only a few moments later, Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi and Marko Miladinović mirrored Frantzen and Braverman, putting up a 6-2 win over Jackson Armistead and Nacho Serra Sanchez from Miami.
In singles play, both Miladinović and Grassi Mazzuchi qualified for the final rounds of their respective brackets. Miladinović tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Trinity Greer from Rice, while Grassi Mazzuchi topped UTSA's Alan Magadan, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
Both Braverman and Frantzen fell in the singles semifinal rounds on Saturday afternoon. In the E bracket, Braverman dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Oral Robert's Ignacio Vinas. Frantzen's comeback fell just short, as he lost 6-2, 7-5 to Andoni Garmendia from Cowley College.
Play begins Sunday morning at 10 a.m., with Grassi Mazzuchi against Miami's Serra Sanchez for the A bracket title, followed by Miladinović against the hometown Roadrunner Sebastian Rodriguez for the B title.
