Twenty Bears earn academic accolades

FRISCO, Texas – The 2022-23 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team was announced on Tuesday from the Big 12 Conference, featuring 20 Baylor acrobatics & tumbling student-athletes.

A total of 68 student-athletes were named to the team, BU making up 29 percent of the honorees.

The at-large team recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at league institutions that participate in sports outside of Big 12 competition. The sports included for the 2022-23 season were acrobatics & tumbling, beach volleyball, men's gymnastics, men's soccer and rifle.

Only eight student-athletes registered a perfect 4.0 grade point average, three of them being Bears: Keri Collins, Addi Grandy and Kamryn Kitchens.

First team members consist of those who maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team
selections held a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
