WACO, Texas – Baylor guards Keyonte George and Adam Flagler have been named to the Midseason Team for the 2023 Jersey Mikes Naismith Trophy, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday.
 
George and Flagler were among 30 players named to the Midseason Team, and BU is one of just two teams in the nation with multiple representatives. Kansas State's Keyontae Johnson and Marquis Nowell also made the list, while Kansas' Jalen Wilson, Texas' Marcus Carr and TCU's Mike Miles Jr. were selected from the Big 12 as well.
 
George, who was named to the Jerry West Award Top 10 earlier this week, ranks third among Division I freshman, averaging 17.5 points per game, highlighted by 32 points at West Virginia — the most since LaceDarius Dunn set the freshman record with 38 points against Texas Tech in 2008. The Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year has scored 20 or more points 10 times, the most by a Baylor freshman since Lawrence Roberts had 11 in 2001-2002. He is second in the Big 12 in three-pointers made (60) and ranks third in three-point percentage (.343).
 
George joins Flagler as part of the second-highest scoring backcourt in the Power Five. A native of Duluth, Ga., Flagler was a preseason All-Big 12 selection, and is in the midst of a strong senior season where he ranks 11th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (3.03) and ranks fifth in the Power Five in three-point shooting percentage (.411). Additionally, he leads the Big 12 in three-pointers per game (2.6), ranks fourth in assists per game (5.0), eighth in points per game (15.4) and ninth in field goal percentage (.415).
 
This season marks the second time in three years the Bears have had multiple representatives on the team as Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler made the squad back in 2021. The team of 30 will be whittled down to 10 semifinalists on March 9, 2023, with four finalists being named on March 21^st. The winner will be announced as part of Final Four weekend on April 2^nd.
 
The 14th-ranked Bears are just a game back of the Big 12 conference lead as they head to TCU, attempting to avenge a loss earlier this season. The Bears and Frogs tip off at 3 p.m. Saturday with Mark Neely and Fran Fraschilla on the call for ESPN2.
