
WT Continues Homestand with West Virginia, No. 6 Iowa State

Friday’s contest is highlighted by Cub Tennis and a free giveaway
WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis returns to Big 12 action and continues its homestand this weekend when it hosts West Virginia and No. 6 Iowa State at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Bears (10-9, 1-3 Big 12) and the Mountaineers (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) will square off at 6 p.m. on Friday. Fans can receive a free green tank top, while supplies last, and the Bears will be hosting Cub Tennis, a free instructional clinic for kids, at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Baylor is set to face the Cyclones (12-2, 2-0 Big 12) at 1 p.m.
Two Bears, Isabella Harvison and Alina Shcherbinina, are listed in the latest ITA rankings at No. 94 and No. 124, respectively. Shcherbinina earned her team-leading 11th singles victory on Tuesday night, upsetting No. 69-ranked Taylor Melville to clinch the 5-2 win over Denver. Harvison has 10 victories, with a team-best five at the No. 2 position, while Anita Sahdiieva picked up her ninth win of the year on Tuesday night.
In doubles action, Harvison and Sahdiieva boast a 5-3 record and are an impressive 4-1 at No. 2. Shcherbinina and Brooke Thompson picked up their second victory on Tuesday night, moving to 2-1 on the year as partners.
This weekend marks West Virginia and Iowa State's first outings on the road in Big 12 play this season. Iowa State is currently No. 6 in the ITA rankings. The Cyclones have a trio of players listed in the top 125 and a pair of doubles teams in the top 60.
Admission to both matches is free. Fans who are unable to attend can follow along via live stats or a live video stream.
