STORY LINES
• Baylor Softball is set to play in two midweek games this week, hosting UTSA first on Tuesday, March 28, before heading to San Marcos, Texas Wednesday to face the Texas State Bobcats.
• The Bears lead the all-time record against UTSA 26-13 and the record over Texas State 41-19.
• BU last faced UTSA in 2017 and took down the Roadrunners, 8-2.
• The Bears last met up with the Bobcats last season and defeated TXST, 3-0 in San Marcos.
• Maintaining their position in the polls, Baylor is now ranked No. 23 in the D1Softball poll. Softball America and ESPN/USA Today polls, and the NFCA coaches' poll will come out Tuesday, March 28.
• BU is currently sitting at 28 in the NCAA Softball RPI standings.
• Baylor ranks third in the Big 12 in pitching ERA, with a 1.91 team ERA. No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 10 Texas are the only teams ahead of the Bears.
• BU also leads the Big 12 in sacrifice bunts (21) and stolen bases (54).
• McKenzie Wilson ended her on-base streak, which dated back to last season, at 35. That streak is good for third all-time in the Baylor record books, one short of tying Lindsey Cargill for second place at 36.
• Wilson also leads the Big 12 in stolen bases (15), while Presleigh Pilon follows behind her in third place with 11.
• Baylor fell against No. 2 Oklahoma State last week, to start conference play 0-3. The Bears will look to bounce back in conference play this week as they will host Kansas at home for a three-game series.
• Shaylon Govan leads the Bears with a .413 batting average with five doubles, seven home runs and 37 RBIs. She is currently 12th in the nation in runs batted in per game with 1.23 and leads the Big 12 with 37 already on the season.
• Govan is one of six Bears to have double digit RBIs already on the season. Emily Hott follows her with 20, Amber Toven has 19, McKenzie Wilson has 13, Taylor Strain has 12 and Sydney Collazos has 10.
• Sydney Collazos has led the Bears over the last five games, batting .375 and six hits. She played both catcher and third base over the last week, recording 19 putouts without a single error.
• Dariana Orme has the third best season era in the conference (1.04), leads the Bears with 85 strikeouts and leads the conference in innings pitched (87.1)
• The Bears have already recorded 54 stolen bases on the season, more than half of last year's season total of 75.
• BU has had 21 of 22 players see action during a game at some point this season.
• Head coach Glenn Moore picked up his 1,000th career win against UT Arlington on March 22. He is the winningest coach in Baylor Athletics history and now ranks 11th among active Division I head softball coaches to reach this milestone. 861 of his 1,000 career wins have come at Baylor University.
