The Bears’ annual Go Gold match, Whiteout highlight busy weekend at the Hurd
WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis begins its 2023 Big 12 slate this weekend when it hosts Oklahoma State and No. 20 Oklahoma at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Bears and the Cowgirls will square off at 6 p.m. on Friday, as the outing has been designated as their annual Go Gold match. Fans can receive free gold T-shirts and gold poms, while supplies last. Additionally, the Bears will be hosting Cub Tennis, a free instructional clinic for kids, at 5 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to wear white to Sunday's match against the nationally-ranked Sooners, which is slated for 1 p.m., and free T-shirts will be distributed, while supplies last.
Baylor is 8-6 on the year and head coach Joey Scrivano is one win away from reaching 500 in his career. The Bears are led by #92 Isabella Harvison, who is 9-3 in singles action this season. Alina Shcherbinina is an impressive 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Anita Sahdiieva is a team-best 5-1 at the No. 3 position.
Harvison and Sahdiieva will look to remain undefeated at No. 1 doubles, while Daniella Dimitrov and Paula Baranano will make their first appearance of the season at No. 2. Liubov Kostenko and Brooke Thompson will hold down the No. 3 spot for the Bears this weekend.
