Bear women run fastest 4x200 in over 20 years
AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor track and field closed out the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
In a record-setting day across the meet, the Bears added one new program record in the women's 4x200 and added a top-four time to the storied men's 4x400-meter relay top-10 list.
THE RUNDOWN
In the fastest time for BU since the 1990s, the Baylor women's 4x200 squad of Bria Bullard, Mariah Ayers, Kavia Francis and Imaobong Uko put up a 1:31.77 to take the silver medal in the event and set a new program-best time.
Adding to the program all-time list, the men's 4x400-meter relay of Kamden Jackson, Matthew Moorer, Nathaniel Ezekiel and Dillon Bedell tied a 1995 squad for No. 4 all-time in BU history, running the fastest quartermile relay since 2008, in a 3:00.61.
Ryan Day collected his second bronze medal of the meet on Saturday afternoon after running a 4:05.03 mile. The senior improved his personal-best time by half a second.
With much of the record-setting 4x2 squad back on the track for the 4x400-meter relay, Ayers, Uko, Gontse Morake and Lily Williams ran a season-best 3:33.34 to close the meet in seventh place.
In the B section of the women's shot put, Makayla Long qualified to the final throws and finished eighth with a day's-best fling of 163-8 on her fifth attempt.
The men's 4x200 squad featured Jackson, Ricquan Graham, Moorer and Bedell mostly led the pack until the handoff between legs two and three, where Graham was tripped up. The group ended up 10th at 1:26.25.
