MT Opens Oklahoma Road Trip with 4-0 Loss to OU

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 43 Baylor men's tennis opened up its Oklahoma road trip with a 4-0 loss to No. 34 Oklahoma on Friday night at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The 14th-ranked pair of Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz secured the Bears' lone match victory on the evening before Oklahoma took the doubles point and the top-three singles courts.
Freshman Luc Koenig was only one game away from giving the Bears a singles point at Court Five, but the match was left unfinished.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears put up a fight in doubles, with Paroulek and Velcz taking the 6-3 victory on the first court. The Sooners fought back, taking a 6-2 decision on two over Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi before a tiebreak victory over Justin Braverman and Christopher Frantzen on three to win the doubles point.
Entering singles, OU took four first sets from BU, but the Bears clawed to a tiebreak win from Grassi Mazzuchi and a 6-4 win for Koenig in the first frames at Courts Four and Five.
Jordan Hasson finished first, beating Bass 6-4, 6-4 to win team point No. 2. He was followed by Siphos Montsi defeating Marko Miladinović, 6-2, 6-4 at Court Three.
The match was clinched with a 7-6(4), 6-2 decision on the first court as senior, No. 98, Alex Martinez beat Velcz to decide the match.
In the unfinished courts, Oklahoma had the lead at six, but Grassi Mazzuchi and Koenig took their first sets at Nos. 4 and 5.

The Bears will face #44 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Sunday in their final match before Round One of the Big 12 Championship in Lawrence next Friday.
