AMES, Iowa - No. 18 Baylor Softball fell against Iowa State, 4-2, Friday afternoon at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
The Bears, now 35-14 on the season and 4-9 in conference play, battled the Cyclones but ultimately gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears struck first, after back-to-back singles from McKenzie Wilson and Emily Hott put two on, before Shaylon Govan was walked to load the bases. Sydney Collazos then reached on an RBI fielder's choice, as Govan was tagged out at second base.
BU gave up a solo homer in the bottom of the first and ISU tied the game, 1-1.
Baylor got a runner on and over to third in the second and placed two runners on base in the third, but weren't able to capitalize as Iowa State took the 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the third.
Amber Toven came up big in the top of the fifth, after singles from Hott and Ana Watson put two on. Toven then singled to second base, bringing home Hott from third.
The 2-2 tie didn't last for long, when the Cyclones re-took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after a bases-loaded single and a fielder's choice put ISU up 4-2.
The Bears were down to their last chance in the top of the seventh, but weren't able to get a run across.
