ORLANDO – The Baylor men's tennis season officially came to an end on Wednesday evening after the 15th-ranked doubles pairing of Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz were knocked out of the NCAA Doubles Championship at the USTA National Campus in the first round of play.
In a rematch from an unfinished match in February, Ohio State's James Trotter and Andrew Lutschaunig ended up taking the 6-3, 6-4 win over Paroulek and Velcz.
THE RUNDOWN
Due to rain in Florida, the first-round bout between BU and OSU started just over 24 hours after the initial scheduled first serve.
The match started in a service battle, as both Ohio State and Baylor swept the service points in the first two games. The first set stayed on-serve until OSU took the 4-2 advantage. The Bears fought back for another game before the Buckeyes took Set One, 6-3.
Ohio State got a quick break in Set Two to end up with a 3-1 lead. The two duos held throughout the remainder of the match, and Ohio State won the second set, 6-4.
Paroulek and Velcz end the 2022-23 season with an impressive 25-6 overall record, just off a seven-match win streak entering the tournament.
