WACO, Texas – Baylor track and field seniors Ben Conacher and Ryan Day were named to the 2022-23 Academic All-America men's track and field/cross country second-team, as released Thursday by the College Sports Communicators.

The pair are only the third and fourth Baylor men's track and field/cross country student-athletes that have earned a place on the CSC Academic All-America teams, and the first since the 2013 season when Blake Niccum earned second-team honors and Taylor Jackson followed on the third team.

In total, Conacher and Day are only the 13th and 14th all-time Academic All-America team members coming from the Baylor track and field or cross country teams.

Conacher, a native of Katy, Texas, ended his BU career in the classroom with a perfect 4.0 GPA en route to a biochemistry degree.

On the track, Conacher ended his time in stellar fashion with a personal best to advance to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, followed by another personal best that landed him on the NCAA All-America podium in a tie for eighth.

Conacher is soon beginning a PhD in genetics, bioinformatics and computational biology at Virginia Tech.

Day excelled to a 3.97 undergraduate GPA in mechanical engineering and recently graduated with his master's degree in the same subject.

A Waco native, Day was one of Baylor's top-25 finishers at the NCAA South Central Regional in Bryan-College Station, Texas, and was joined by sophomore Drew Snyder as all-region runners. It was the first time in over a decade that Baylor placed two competitors on the regional podium.

In the track season, Day closed out his collegiate career with all-conference honors in the indoor distance medley and outdoor 5,000 meters, where he holds the program record.
