Walker Named Big 12 Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Baylor women's basketball's Jada Walker was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Walker turned in her best performance of the season on Saturday, helping the Bears pick up their second top-five win of the year with an 85-79 upset of then-No. 5 Texas on the road. The win marked the first time since the 2012-13 campaign that Baylor had picked up two top-five wins in the regular season and it was the 14th-straight win in Austin for the Bears.

Walker finished with a team- and season-high 19 points in a season-high 37 minutes of action. She became the fifth Bear to register 19-plus points in a game this season and it was the first time Walker led Baylor in scoring this year. She went a season-best 8-for-13 from the field, scoring eight of her 19 points in the third quarter. Walker added a team-high four steals and finished with three assists and three rebounds.

Walker and the Bears return to action when No. 6 Baylor hosts No. 23 TCU in their Foster Pavilion debut. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are still available for the contest.
