Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Year honored with 20 best centers in women’s college basketball
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Baylor women's basketball senior center Aaronette Vonleh has been named to the 2024-25 Preseason Watch List for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award, as announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.
The Lisa Leslie Award annually recognizes the top centers in women's college basketball every year.
Vonleh was Baylor's sixth-straight and 11th all-time Preseason Newcomer of the Year selection, announced in early October.
Coming to the Bears after a two-year All-Pac-12 stint in Colorado, Vonleh started in all 34 games and led the team with 476 points last season. Her sophomore year featured three 20-plus-point games with 25 double-digit scoring efforts after transferring from Arizona.
Vonleh was also named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team by the league coaches with fifth-year guard Sarah Andrews.
An updated top 10 list for the Lisa Leslie Award will be released in January, with the final five narrowed in late March. Throughout the season, the list will be fluid, and players will have the ability to play themselves on or off our list until the five finalists are selected.
Single game tickets for 2024-25 at the Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion are on sale now. For more information, call the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office at 254-710-1000.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
