A&T Opens Season with Win Against Texas Lutheran

Bears defeat Bulldogs in Seguin
SEGUIN, Texas – Baylor acrobatics & tumbling defeated Texas Lutheran on Saturday, 275.325-165.290, at Memorial Gym.
The Bears (1-0) defeated the Bulldogs (0-1) by 110.035 points for the win.
It was the first program meeting between the teams, TLU now in its second year of A&T. The head coach of the Bulldogs, Cam Bryant, and assistant coach Sophia Ranni are both Baylor alumnae.
THE RUNDOWN
Starting off the meet, Baylor had a Compulsory score of 38.20. A score of 9.60 was garnered in Acro, 9.90 in Pyramid, 9.85 in Toss and an 8.85 in Tumbling. Going into the second event, BU was up 38.20 to Texas Lutheran's 23.70 score.
Moving into the optional portion of the meet, Baylor had a score of 9.50 in Heat 1, 9.35 in Heat 2 and 9.40 in Heat 3 of Acro to total 28.25 for the event. The Bulldogs had scores of 7.00, 5.35 and 5.90, respectively, for a total of 18.25. Going into the Pyramid event, BU was up 66.75 to TLU's 41.95.
In the Pyramid event, the Bears earned a 9.95 in Heat 1, the inversion heat. In heat two, BU earned a 9.60, the synchronized heat. In heat three, the open heat, the Bears scored 9.80. With the event scoring a 29.35, the running total was updated to 96.00 for Baylor. TLU totaled 22.70 for the event and had a score of 64.65 going into halftime, the Bears up 31.35-points on the Bulldogs.
In the Toss Event, Baylor had scores of 9.20, 9.05 and 8.75, respectively, to total 27.0 for the event. The Bulldogs scored a 8.50, 5.90 and 7.20, respectively, to total 21.60. Going into the fifth event, Tumbling, the Bears were up 123.100 to TLU's 86.25.
In the Tumbling Event, Heat 1 (Duo) with freshman Emily Bott and senior Kristen McCain scored a 9.55. In the Trio Heat (Heat 2), Payton Washington, Rakel Jeffries and Ally Joswick scored an 8.55. The Quad Pass (Heat 3) had Aliya Thomas, Brennah Cotner, Gigi Rendino and Emi Nelson score a 7.75. The Aerial pass from Emily Bott earned a 9.80, Washington in the 6 Element pass (Heat 5) had a 9.925, and Kristen McCain in the Open pass (Heat 6) earned a 9.75. The Bears' total came to 55.275 for the event, while the Bulldogs scored a 39.90. Going into the night's final event, BU was up 178.375 to 126.150 from Texas Lutheran.
In the Team event, Baylor earned a score of 96.95 while TLU earned a 39.14, bringing the meet score to a total of 275.475 to 165.290, BU taking the win.
