MT’s Paroulek Named Big 12 Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Baylor senior Tadeas Paroulek has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Putting together an undefeated doubleheader day on Saturday, Paroulek went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles against Jacksonville State and Nebraska.

Opening the day against the Gamecocks, No. 32 Paroulek defeated No. 45 Ivan Marrero Curbelo, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 at Court One for his first ranked win of the spring season.

Back a few hours later, Paroulek and Velcz defeated Nebraska's Nic Wiedenhorn and Anton Shepp, 7-6(7), at Court One in doubles to clinch the point. Continuing in singles, he downed Mueller in a third-set breaker, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, to complete the 7-0 sweep for the Bears over the Cornhuskers.

The Prague, Czech Republic, native leads the team in spring doubles victories with Zsombor Velcz at four and has a 3-2 record in singles.

BU is back at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center this weekend, facing Tulsa Sunday at noon and USC Monday at 5:30 p.m. Fans can receive free Kona Ice for the Tulsa match and a free Valentine's Day-themed T-shirt against USC, while supplies last.
