Nine of BU’s 10 active players will see action in Humble this week
HUMBLE, Texas—Baylor men's golf returns to action in the Lone Star State at the All-American Intercollegiate, which begins Monday at the Golf Club of Houston.
The Bears will roll out the traditional five-man lineup, in addition to four players competing as individuals. One of just three events remaining before the Big 12 Championship, head coach Mike McGraw looks forward to seeing what his team can do against a solid field in Humble.
"Our team is really looking forward to competing at the All-American Intercollegiate," he said. "It's a great opportunity for several of our players — in the lineup and individually — to compete against a good field on a golf course with which we have some experience. This week will be a good test for us as we approach the home stretch of the regular season."
Johnny Keefer will take his usual place at the No. 1 position for the 31st-straight team event. The senior led the team with a tie for 20th at the Cabo Collegiate, and has shot par or better in nine of his last 10 stroke-play rounds.
Davis Ovard had another strong showing in Cabo and will play at the No. 2 spot for a second-straight event. His tie for 23rd at the Cabo Collegiate is his best finish as a member of the lineup for BU.
Tyler Isenhart continues to find his form in his senior season, making his third-straight appearance in the lineup for coach McGraw at No. 3 this week. His tie for 35th at the Cabo Collegiate was his best of the season as a member of the five-man lineup this season.
Jonas Appel makes his second appearance of the spring, playing at No. 4 this week. Appel's best finish of the season also came in Texas when he tied for 38th at the Valero Texas Collegiate in September.
The final spot in the lineup will go to Austin, Texas, native Trey Bosco. The senior is coming off his best finish of the season when he tied for sixth at the Prestige Individual last month in Palm Springs, Calif.
The event will consist of 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. Once available, live scoring and stats for the team event can be found at Golfstat.com, while scores for the All-American Individual will be at smartgolf.com.
