The Bears picked up a ranked doubles win on the top court
PROVO, Utah – Baylor women's tennis was outlasted by BYU on Thursday afternoon, falling 4-3.
Despite the loss, the Bears walked away with the doubles point after #66 Isabella Harvison and Liubov Kostenko jumped back in the win column with a 6-2 victory on court three. Zuzanna Kubacha and Sierra Berry earned their first ranked win of the season at the No. 1 position, besting #40 Emilee Astle and Kendall Kovick, 7-6 (7-4).
In singles play, three sets on three different courts needed extra points to decide the winners of those sets. The Cougars edged the Bears on the first three courts, while Kubacha collected her 10th singles win of the year with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 decision at the No. 4 position. On court five, Zuzanna Frankowska earned her four singles win in conference play with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory to knot the score at three-all. BYU used a 6-3, 6-3 win on court six to pull out the win over the Bears.
The Bears will head back to Texas this Saturday to play the Texas Tech Lady Raiders in Lubbock at 11 a.m.
