BU is coming off its first win of the season
PHOENIX, Ariz.—Baylor men's golf will tee it up in the final regular-season event of the season on Friday at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club.
Playing the event for the seventh time in the last nine years, Baylor's best finish came when they finished fourth in 2015 when the event was played at Karsten Golf Club. Since moving to Papago Golf Club, BU's best finish was a sixth-place finish in 2022. Fresh off the 50th win of his head-coaching career, Baylor's Mike McGraw looks forward to seeing how his team builds on its performance in another tough test.
"We are always glad to be competing at Papago, the firm and fast greens are a challenge," he said. "The field that ASU has assembled is outstanding."
Johnny Keefer will remain at the No. 1 position, where he has been at every event since the start of the 2021-22 season. The senior returns to the Thunderbird, where he shot a final-round 66 last year to tie for sixth.
Davis Ovard will get the start at No. 2 for the fourth-straight event. The freshman enters this week fresh off back-to-back top-10 finishes.
Tyler Isenhart will play at No. 3, fresh off a tie for ninth at the Aggie Invitational last week. The senior debuted at the Thunderbird last season when he tied for 39th.
Zach Heffernan enters this week on the heels of his best performance in the Baylor lineup, a tie for 4th at the Aggie Invitational. The junior is making his third appearance in the Thunderbird, with his best finish, a tie for 57th, coming last year in Phoenix.
Luke Dossey makes his third appearance at the Thunderbird, playing out of the No. 5 position. The Austin, Texas, native has now strung together back-to-back top-15 finishes entering Friday.
