EUGENE, Ore. – Baylor freshman Molly Haywood continues to find success in her first year as a Bear as she took home the silver medal in pole vault at the USATF U20 Championships on Wednesday to qualify for the U20 World Championships in Peru later this year in August.
The Tomball, Texas, native finished with a mark of 4.40m (14-05.25) to earn her qualifying spot. The World Athletics U20 Championships is a biennial world championship for the sport of athletics organized by the World Athletics, contested by athletes in the under-20 athletics age category.
Earlier this month, Haywood finished fifth at her first-career NCAA Outdoor Championship meet. The freshman tied with Washington's freshman, Amanda Moll, in fifth place and is only the third Bear to earn All-America honors and the first to do so in her true freshman season.
WHAT'S NEXT
Haywood will go on to compete at the U20 World Championships in Lima, Peru, between August 27-31, 2024.
