COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor cross country ran at the Texas A&M Invite, hosted by Texas A&M at the Watts Cross Country Course on Friday morning with the women finishing in sixth place out of 16 teams in the 5k event and the men following in ninth in the 8k race out of 14 teams.
THE RUNDOWN
The top two finishers on both sides for Baylor were two Bears who were making their Baylor XC debut. For the men, grad transfer
Nick Hruskoci competed in his first meet wearing the green and gold since transferring from Wisconsin, leading the Bears in 26
th with a 24:23.9 time. Following Hruskoci was freshman and Waco-native
Jack Sterrett, who finished at 24:40.0 in 37
th place. This marked Sterrett's collegiate debut.
On the women's side,
Ruth Kimeli, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, made her cross country debut as she only competed in the 2024 outdoor track season the previous academic year. Kimeli had a strong start, pacing herself in first place at the 2k split, but overall finished in 15
th with a 17:48.1 clip. Following Kimeli was freshman
Ella Perry, another local freshman from Harker Heights, Texas. Perry made her collegiate debut finishing in 32
nd at 18:11.1.
Overall, the top five scorers for the Baylor men were Hruskoci (26), Sterrett (37),
Nolan Keenan (55),
Devin Duran (62) and
Caden Biltz (78).
On the women's side were Kimeli (15), Perry (32),
Jackie Addy (55),
Lucy Benton (60) and
Jordan Ledington (63).

The Bears will travel to Colombia, Missouri for the Gans Creek Classic on September 27 for their third meet of the season.
