
XC’s Kimeli Leads Bears at Gans Creek Classic

Women finish 27th; Men finish 33rd in CoMo
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Freshman Ruth Kimeli paced herself to become the first Baylor woman to earn a top-10 finish at the Gans Creek Classic on Friday morning. Kimeli earned an eighth place finish with a time of 20:12.3 in the women's 6k.

 Overall, the Baylor women earned 27th place out of the stacked 38-team field. On the men's side, Baylor finished 33rd out of 36 teams in the 8k competition.

THE RUNDOWN
In one of the biggest meets in the regular season, Kimeli came out on top for the Bears, being the top finisher for the second meet in a row. Kimeli, an Eldoret, Kenya, native, never dropped lower than 13th place out of the entire 6k race in a stacked field competition. The top-two women broke the course record by five seconds, and Kimeli's time of 20:12.3 marked the 18th fastest 6k time on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

Ella Perry followed at No. 2 for the second meet in a row at 21:58.6 in 141st; Jackie Addy finished No. 3 at 173rd with a 22:18.8 time, tying her career-best 6k time. Rosanna Pugh came in at No. 3 at 217th. Kat Helmer in 242nd and Cate Urbani at 248th concluded scoring for the Bears.

On the men's side similar to last meet for the Bears, grad transfer Nick Hruskoci was the top finisher. Hruskoci crossed the finish line in 156th with a 25:02.1 8k time. Devin Duran finished at No. 2 at 221st followed shortly by Nolan Keenan in 225th. Caden Biltz was No. 4 for Baylor at 252nd with Jack Sterrett rounding out scoring for the men at 255th.
