Isgrig’s brace lifts Bears over Cougs
IRVING, Texas – Baylor senior midfielder Tyler Isgrig was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after notching her third brace of the season and fifth of her career in Baylor's 4-2 comeback win over BYU on Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field.
Isgrig scored her sixth and seventh goals of the year, helping the Bears erase two one-goal deficits and extend their win streak to five straights. The Arlington, Texas, native also added her fourth assist of the season, contributing to Baylor's fifth-straight win.
The award is Baylor's 71st total weekly soccer honor from the Big 12 and the 21st offensive-specific award since the category was added before the 2000 season.
Isgrig was recognized as co-offensive player of the week alongside Taylor White of West Virginia. The conference also honored Brooklyn Blaylock of Utah as defensive player of the week, Jordan Nytes of Colorado as goalkeeper of the week and Raleigh Greason of Texas Tech and Ava Arnold of West Virginia as co-freshmen of the week.
Baylor, announced as an early No. 4 overall seed by the NCAA selection committee, travels to Fort Worth on Thursday for a top 5 showdown with TCU, the early No. 5 overall seed, at 7 p.m. The Bears return home Sunday for their final regular season match at Betty Lou Mays Field, hosting Utah at 1 p.m.
