WACO, Texas – No. 8 Baylor equestrian is set to open its 2025-26 season with a trip to the east at No. 1 Georgia on Friday and No. 4 Auburn on Saturday.
The Bears will face off against the Bulldogs on Friday at 1 p.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex and then travel to meet the Tigers on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Auburn University Equestrian Center.
Ninth-year head coach Casie Maxwell leads a squad of 47 student-athletes, including 2025 All-Big 12 Fences Team member Lauren Jorgensen. Additionally, BU returns 13 of its 20 point-winners from last season.
Baylor is back in action after a 5-7 campaign and a trip to the semifinals at the 2025 Big 12 Championship. The Bears were unranked in the 2024 NCEA preseason dual discipline poll but would ultimately end the season at the No. 9 spot.
BU is 3-5 in season openers during the Maxwell era and will open the year on the road for the seventh consecutive season. Baylor has outscored opponents 78-72 in its last seven season-opening competitions.
Georgia leads the all-time series 12-4 over BU, with the Bears earning the win 11-8 in 2024. Baylor trails in the all-time series against Auburn 14-3, with BU looking to get its first win since 2021. Live scoring for both matches (Georgia/Auburn) will be available online. Both meets will be live streamed on SEC Network Plus.
Following this weekend's season opener, the Bears travel north on I-35 to meet conference foe No. 7 TCU on Oct. 9.
