Bears head to Fort Worth as No. 5 seed in conference tournament
WACO, Texas – No. 23 Baylor soccer secured the No. 5 seed in the Big 12 standings at the conclusion of the regular season, earning a spot in the 2025 Big 12 Championship Tournament presented by Allstate. The first two rounds of the tournament will be played in Fort Worth on Monday and Wednesday, before the final two teams head south to Betty Lou Mays Field to compete for the championship title on Saturday in Waco.
The Bears (12-3-3, 7-3-1 Big 12) will open tournament play against No. 4 seed Texas Tech (13-2-3, 7-1-3 Big 12) on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The two programs last met in the Big 12 opener, where the Red Raiders earned a 1-0 victory. A win on Monday would advance the Bears to the semifinal round on Wednesday.
In the semifinal round, Baylor would face the winner of No.1 seed TCU (15-2-1, 9-1-1 Big 12) and No. 8 seed BYU (9-6-3, 4-5-2 Big 12). That matchup will be decided at 2 p.m. on Monday.
Baylor has already faced every team that clinched a spot in the tournament this season, with the exception of West Virginia. The Bears hold a 3-3 record against the field heading to Fort Worth. BU enters the week as one of five nationally ranked programs in the tournament, joining No. 5 TCU, No. 11 Colorado, No. 15 Texas Tech and No. 19 West Virginia.
