
MT Trio Readies for NCAA Individual Competition

Badenhorst, Van Schalkwyk and Velcz prepare for NCAA Individual Championships
ORLANDO, Fla. – A trio of Baylor men's tennis players is ready for the NCAA Individual Championships at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Singles competition begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT, while doubles kick off on Wednesday with times to be announced.
No. 5 seed Devin Badenhorst and No. 9-16 seed Connor Van Schalkwyk will compete in the round of 64 for singles, while the duo of Van Schalkwyk and Zsombor Velcz will be in the doubles draw.
Van Schalkwyk will be competing at 8 a.m. CT while Badenhorst is set for a 2 p.m. CT match. Van Schalkwyk faces Texas' Sebastian Eriksson while Badenhorst is set to play California's Tiago Silva. The doubles team of Van Schalkwyk and Velcz battles Cornell's Felipe Pinzon and Petar Teodorovic.
Going into singles action, Badenhorst is 40-24 in his career while Van Schalkwyk is 54-21. In this season's fall slate, Badenhorst is 4-1 and Van Schalkwyk is 14-4. The South African native of Badenhorst punched his ticket at the ITA All-American Championships. The Namibian native earned his way into the tournament after three wins at the ITA Central Sectional.
In doubles, Van Schalkwyk and Velcz boast a 5-2 record. The duo claimed the ITA Texas Regional Doubles Championship to earn a trip to Florida.
