Bears head north to compete in South Bend Regional
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – No. 23 Baylor Soccer travels to the South Bend Regional, hosted by Notre Dame, for the second round of the NCAA Division I Soccer Championship. The Bears will face No. 15 Wisconsin on Thursday, Nov. 20, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. ET/ 2 p.m. CT at Alumni Soccer Stadium.
The Bears (13-4-4, 7-3-1 Big 12) enter the matchup riding the momentum of a dominant 3-0 win over Texas State in the first round. Baylor's strong regular season secured a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, marking the program's most successful campaign since 2018, when the Bears recorded 20 wins and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. This season also marks the fifth time in program history that Baylor has reached the second round, adding another milestone to a year already filled with historic achievements.
The Badgers (14-5-2, 6-3-2 Big Ten) arrive in South Bend after earning a 3-2 comeback win over Western Michigan in the first round. Wisconsin advanced to the semifinal round of the Big Ten Tournament earlier this month, falling 2–1 to No. 13 Washington. The Badgers hold a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and are making their third-straight appearance and 26th overall.
The two programs will meet for the fourth time in series history, with Wisconsin holding a 2-1-0 advantage. Their most recent matchup came three years ago in Waco, where the Badgers earned a 2-0 victory. The teams share one common opponent this season, Colorado, with both programs recording one-goal wins.
This NCAA postseason run marks a milestone for head coach Michelle Lenard, representing her first NCAA Tournament appearance at the helm of the Baylor program. Under her leadership, the Bears have achieved their winningest season of the Lenard era and advanced to their deepest run in the Big 12 and NCAA Tournament since her arrival.
With a win, the Bears would advance to face the winner of Thursday's other second-round game between top-seeded Notre Dame and Ohio State. Sunday's third-round game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. CT at Alumni Stadium, with a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals on the line.
Live stats for the match will be available online with updates provided on social media, and both matches will be streamed by ESPN+.
