Bears ready for their second Big 12 matchup of the Spring season
WACO, Texas – The 10th-ranked Baylor equestrian team returns to the arena on Saturday to face fourth-ranked Oklahoma State for the second home meet of the spring season.
The Bears (2-5, 1-3) face the Cowgirls (5-3, 1-2) in BU's second Big 12 matchup of the spring slate.
The meet will start at 12 p.m. CT at the Willis Family Equestrian Center, with all four events taking place in the covered arena. Fences will lead off the meet with Reining following, then Flat and Horsemanship will compete simultaneously to finish it off.
All home BU equestrian meets are free to the public. Saturday's meet will have pony rides for children and is the Cub Club Event of the Month. Fans can also collect one of eight commemorative posters for Baylor Bold Weekend, as well as Horse Valentines and Horse Trading Cards.
Baylor is coming off a road loss to Fresno State, but the Bears kept it close. The Bears won Fences and Horsemanship, highlighted by dominating performances from Nadalee Vasquez and Madison Mitchell, who earned her first Fences MOP of the season after posting an 83.5 score.
Oklahoma State comes to Waco after a 12-7 win at UC Davis on Nov. 23 to start its spring competition schedule.
When the two teams met in Stillwater in the fall, the Cowgirls won 12-6, but BU came away with a tie in Flat and a close competition in Horsemanship.
Baylor will start familiar faces in the lineup against OSU, using the same winning lineups in Fences and Horsemanship from the Fresno State meet.
Live results for Saturday's meet can be found here. A full recap and final scoresheet will be uploaded after the conclusion of the competition.
