Bears face Fighting Illini Saturday at 3 p.m. and the Brown Bears Monday at 6 p.m.
WACO, Texas – With a busy weekend split home and away, the No. 22 Baylor women's tennis team will head north for a match against Illinois at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Atkins Tennis Center before coming home to host Brown at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Baylor (6-1) is coming off a 4-3 win against San Diego in a road series in California, while Illinois (2-5) has lost their last three matches, including a 4-1 defeat to No. 6 UCLA. Brown (2-3) is also on a losing streak with their last loss coming from Penn, 4-2. Both Illinois and Brown look to face Big 12 teams the day before they face the Bears as they compete against Iowa State and TCU, respectively.
BU trails all-time against the Fighting Illini, 4-1, with the green and gold earning their first win in the series the last time the two met on Feb. 16, 2020, 4-1. Baylor and Brown have only competed one time before, when the Bears swept in a 4-0 home win in 2010.
The Bears have two ranked players headlining singles, as freshman Na Dong stays at No. 85 and sophomore Zuzanna Kubacha joined the rankings at No. 117. Baylor also has the No. 14 doubles team of Liubov Kostenko and Cristina Tiglea.
Illinois currently has no ranked singles competitors, however, they hold two ranked doubles teams with the No. 61 pair of Megan Heuser and Kida Ferrari and the No. 89 team of Megan Heuser and Alice Xu.
