CONWAY, S.C. — Baylor men's golf returns to action stateside when they open play at the General James Hackler Championship Presented by Carolina Wealth Advisors on Sunday morning.
Baylor's lineup will join an alumni list that includes the likes of Dustin Johnson (Coastal Carolina), Bill Haas (Wake Forest), Cameron Young (Wake Forest), Patrick Reed (Augusta State), Corey Conners (Kent State) and Will Zalatoris (Wake Forest).
Head Coach Mike McGraw is excited to see how his guys handle a course they haven't seen before in competition.
"We are looking forward to competing against a good field this weekend," he said. "This is a new event for us, so I'm looking forward to seeing our guys compete over the next couple of days."
Zach Heffernan will play at the No. 1 spot for the second-straight event and the fourth time this season. His 72.27 stroke average leads the team in 2024-25.
Drew Wrightson will get the nod at No. 2, trying to build on a solid performance in Cabo. His tie for 32nd at Twin Dolphin Club tied for his second-best finish this season.
Jonas Appel led the team with a tie for 27th in Cabo and will play at No. 3 this week. The junior has the team's only top-5 finish this season.
Davis Ovard will play at No. 4, making his sixth start in the lineup this season. The sophomore returns to the Carolinas after capturing the prestigious North & South Amateur Championship this summer in Pinehurst, N.C.
Jackson Hymer will make his collegiate debut in the lineup at the No. 5 spot. The freshman led all Bears with a tie for 11th in his last start at the Prestige Individual Invite in February.
Baylor will be among the first off the tee on Sunday morning, playing alongside Coastal Carolina and Missouri beginning at 7:10 a.m. CT. A full list of pairings, live scoring, and stats for the tournament will be available on Golfstat.com.
